Scope:
This course is addressed to ratings, auxiliary personnel or any other professional personnel, who execute on board welding, soldering, cutting, brazing, burning or any other operation implying high temperature and fire hazard.

Course Entry Requirements:
The course is open to all seafarers and prospective seafarers before employing on a seagoing ship. However, all personnel who have specific responsibilities on board must receive adequate training according to their duties and responsibilities proved by a skill/capacity certificate.
Course Objectives:
At the end of this course, successful trainee will be able to:
- identify hot works on board ship and name their associated hazards.
- correctly enumerate all methods meant to avoid hazards when operating a hot work on board ship.
- explain how to perform a duty when somebody else executes a hot work.
- demonstrate how to prevent and to act when an emergency due to hot work occurs.
Course Structure:
Candidates will use the GIMET e-learning platform to watch a series of video lessons, and to access a broad range of teaching materials: subtitles (or Speaker Notes) of the video lessons, articles, notes, diagrams, dictionaries, guides, link to useful resources, etc.
Course Assessment and Certification:
At the end of the course the trainee has to pass an online Final Exam, consisting in 20 items of various types. On successful completion of the course, candidate will be awarded an internationally recognized Course Certificate.
